It’s started raining
Won’t stop raining now till the spring.
It bleeds all the colours
Vagues and greys most everything
The dripping erosion
The subtle corrosion
The muck and the mire
Turns hero into liar
All greys and all browns
A sepia colour town
Riff, Raff, Hustle, Trash
The comings and goings
The needings and knowings
And it’s pure theatre.
The actors you see
Only half a story
And it’s real . . . . .
Riff, Raff, Hustle, Trash
Our hero he exits the house
A broken man, crawls on all fours.
The villain he enters the stage
The scene is set, revolving doors
The black dog is digging
The heavens are wringing out
The pits and the props
The freaks and the flops
The creeps and the clowns
Of Satantango town
Riff, Raff, Hustle, Trash

The Fear

The things you said much better left unsaid
And the things you dreamt much safer in your head
So don’t go out, much safer to stay home
No friends, or crowds much safer on your own
The things you said much better left unsaid
I’ve got the . . . .
Things you dreamt much safer in your head
I’ve got the FEAR!
And in the morning you awake and it’s there
Paranoid memories so scared
And in the morning you awake and it’s there
Paranoid memories so scared

Dark Cold Krakow Night
03:02
|
|||
If only I knew then that I’d end up selling cabbage
On a Polish market stall with lots of headscarved Babchas
I would never have looked at you
I would never have danced with you
I’d never have fallen for you on that dark cold Krakow night.
Her eyes were as deep yeh, and as dark as the salt mine
And underneath the eastern moon her black hair it did shine
You were all clad in fur
My heart strings plucked my senses stirred
So hot you melted ice yeh, on that dark cold Krakow night.
Our eyes first met through the flicker of a candle flame
In a dim-lit smokey bar, the Singer was its name
We talked and danced, got drunk
And with inhibitions sunk
You put me under your spell yeh, on that dark cold Krakow night.
The next part of this story is so hazy to recall
Was it love, vodka or magic spells that made me stumble and fall?
Dizzy, dazed I lost me feet
Cracked my head on the cobbled street
That’s the last thing I remember of that dark cold Krakow night.
The next things I knew I was dressed in my Sunday best
At the Mariatski church next to you in a white dress
No chance but to say ‘I do’
It was then I saw you had stubble too
A deep voice and size ten shoes on that dark cold Krakow night.
If only I knew then that I’d end up selling cabbage
On a Polish market stall with lots of headscarved Babchas
Because I married a Polish man
He said he was Kasia but his name is Jan
I never should have gone out on that dark cold Krakow night.
So let this tale be a lesson to you all
Don’t go drinking Zubrowka unless you want to fall
And the Singer Bar in Krakow town’s
A place for men who dress up in gowns
I never should have gone out on that dark cold Krakow, dark cold Krakow night,
